The Maison du Passage is a window on the past...
... a gateway to history, and centuries of personal stories.
Over the course of time, the building has been part of the defences of the town of Martignargues, incorporating the fortified gateway from its origins in the 13th century. It was then used as a watchtower during the Battle of Martignargues in 1704, but also as a silkworm nursery and... village grocery shop.
Our contribution was to give it back the lustre and nobility it had lost.
Because we are committed to eco-responsibility and sustainable development:
- Heating and cooling are produced by geothermal energy and solar collectors,
- we provide a recharging point for your 100% electric vehicle at the price of our electricity subscription
(currently 35 cts per KWh) upon reservation,
- We are phasing out disposable hospitality products and replacing them with sustainable packaging,
- local and seasonal food,
- recycling and composting...
The oldest part dates from the 12th or 13th century, the rest from the 15th...
